On a fateful vacation to Mexico, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and his wife, Namibian model Behati Prinsloo, sampled a speciality liquor that would become Calirosa Tequila. Invented by the Real family nearly 80 years ago, the brand's signature rosa tequila derives its distinctive flavor from a wine-barrel aging process. Ultimately, Levine and Prinsloo partnered with the Real distillery to launch their specialty spirits brand, offering various aged rosa tequilas. Now, Calirosa Tequila is further expanding its reach as a part of the Amass Brands Group.
Amass, a beverage company and platform specializing in high-end spirits, acquired Calirosa to diversify its offerings and meet growing demands for premium tequilas. Calirosa Tequila’s core team will continue to oversee operations with additional oversight by Amass, providing Calirosa with access to a global distribution network.
Calirosa Tequila's unique origins and eclectic taste continue to foster a loyal customer base. In 1942, Mexican distiller Dom Dionislo “Nicho” Real was preparing to age his tequila the traditional way when he received red wine barrels instead of whiskey barrels. Real decided to use the red wine barrels anyway, serendipitously creating rosa tequila. The uncommon aging process gives the spirit its pinkish color and rich taste. To this day, the Real family handcrafts every batch of Calirosa, harvesting homegrown agave to create the mesmerizing tequila that Levine and Prinsloo fell in love with. In partnership with Amass, Calirosa aims to share this wonder with global markets.
Amass Brands Group’s acquisition of Calirosa Tequila is effective immediately. Calirosa Tequila is available to order online.
