There are some buildings you walk into and can almost feel the weight of its history, the significance of memories from decades past. Every corner is marked with a story, emulating a certain authenticity unique to historic spaces. The Peninsula New York—which debuted as The Gotham Hotel in 1905—carries this same timeless elegance. For over a century, the 23-story hotel has only evolved in prestige, establishing itself as a New York landmark. As they enter a “new era of luxury,” the hotel has unveiled a comprehensive interior design refurbishment grounded in distinguished flair.

The hotel boasts 219 luxury guest rooms, which include 54 suites and two palatial superior suites, comprising 3,300 square feet each. Every room mirrors the charm of a Manhattan apartment, adorned with a light color palette and a curated selection of artworks, objets d’art and books. The 1920s New York appeal does not sacrifice high-tech conveniences, however, each room features bedside panels with lighting and temperature controls, and tablet technology in 11 languages. Deluxe marble bathrooms, updated lighting fixtures and plush furnishings further establish each room as an elevated retreat.

Guests can find luxury dining across The Peninsula New York’s three restaurants and lounges, tying together elements of the city’s premier dining destinations. The Pen Top, the hotel’s rooftop bar, serves as the crown jewel of the building, allowing guests to sip handcrafted cocktails amidst the iconic skyline. The bar mimics the comfort of an artist’s loft, complemented by lush greenery and comfortable sofas. Adjacent to the hotel lobby lies the Gotham Lounge, an intimately exquisite piano bar. Gotham Lounge defines “ambiance”—guests can be serenaded by soulful melodies while indulging in gourmet cuisine. For breakfast, brunch or lunch, guests can dine at Clement, a classic midtown spot featuring fresh American fare. Clement was further elevated in March—the hotel introduced the Peninsula Sunday Brunch Buffet, inviting guests to enjoy more than 40 culinary offerings alongside live music.

The Peninsula New York’s charm bleeds into their spa, which occupies the entire twenty-first floor. The facilities include saunas, aromatherapy steam rooms, ice fountains and an Asian tea lounge—promising a comprehensive relaxation experience. Amidst the bustle of midtown, the spa cultivates a serene oasis offering a range of wellness and beauty treatments.

With reimagined interior and dining experiences, the hotel ushers in a new wave of excellence, raising the bar even higher for luxury hotels in New York. While The Peninsula New York celebrates the building’s history and iconic role in the city’s architecture, they continue to drive towards the future, maintaining their spot as a premier midtown retreat.
