Under the visionary direction of Hedi Slimane, Celine Homme’s Summer 2025 collection, “The Bright Young,” redefines sartorial elegance with a nod to British heritage. Marrying traditional English tailoring with the house's avant-garde spirit, Slimane taps into 1920s-inspired craftsmanship, weaving summer cashmere and fine wool into meticulously tailored pieces.

Louis-Sébastien Mercier's observation that “it is now fashionable among young people to copy the English style when dressing” truly resonates in this collection, where cricket and boating blazers, as well as sharply trimmed jackets, evoke an effortless sophistication. Slimane artfully captures the essence of aristocratic leisure, filming these pieces at the iconic Holkham Hall in Norfolk during June 2024, creating a cinematic homage to English luxury.

Crafted in the revered ateliers of Celine, each piece in this men’s summer collection is a testament to couture artistry. Hand-embroidered with gleaming silver cannetille patches, these trompe l’oeil designs are a masterful homage to the intricate techniques that once adorned early 20th-century military regalia. The white summer cashmere flannels, a nod to the iconic Francis Scott Fitzgerald at the Hotel Eden Roc in 1922, also subtly echo the crisp elegance of “cricket whites.” Paired with Richelieu shoes, monks, and sleek tapered derbies, the collection revives the sartorial essence of 1920s England — reimagined through the lens of 2002's English fashion resurgence.

Slimane, whose intellectual curiosity began during his studies at the École du Louvre in the late 1980s, first delved into Anglomania through the lens of the Comte d’Artois, who famously introduced this British infatuation to the court of Versailles. His exploration traces the cultural ripple effect from d’Artois to the lions of Parisian boulevards. Summer 2025 channels Slimane’s enduring fascination with Anglomania, intricately weaving this historical obsession into the DNA of Celine Homme’s tailoring.

The runway is set to Les Indes Galantes (1736) by Jean-Philippe Rameau, invokes a sense of grandeur and timelessness as it embodies the baroque aesthetic and also echoes to when the piece was playing during Queen Elizabeth II’s official visit to France. As the show opens, a British actor and former Etonian named Harry raises a trumpet to his lips, unleashing this melody. Throughout the 13 minute video, the models glide through manicured gardens, their movements intertwined with lush scenes of equestrian leisure — men on horseback, reclining in tall grasses, or riding Slimane-designed black leather bicycles, embodying a romanticized vision of English pastoral life.

Celine’s sharply cut suits layered beneath waistcoats of damask or intricately hand-embroidered designs are a direct callback to the 1920s with motifs of English wildflowers. Beneath the meticulously tailored black barathea wool tailcoats, silk faille gilets are adorned with “English Gothic” floral patterns, hand-stitched in Celine's ateliers using sequins, crystals, and glossy black, gold, and silver pearls. Every element, from the wicker baskets with Norfolk-cut flowers to the canoes blends fashion and heritage, a testament to the modern reimagining of timeless British elegance.
