Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils its 2025 yearly theme, the 1931 Polo Club, at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025, paying homage to the iconic Reverso timepiece and its historic connection to the world of polo. The grand stables of aristocratic houses, where polo was played on private fields, inspire the immersive booth, bringing the Reverso’s origin story to life. In 2025, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates the origins of an icon, tracing the Reverso’s genesis to its conception on a polo field in India in 1930 and its roots in the transformative decade preceding it. The 1920s, known as the Roaring Twenties, was an era defined by social and cultural change, technological progress, and the dazzling Art Deco movement. The rise of sport as a fashionable leisure pursuit, epitomized by the game of polo and the charismatic ‘sporting gentleman,’ also defined this dynamic time.

The Reverso's story began when Swiss businessman César de Trey, during a visit to India, was challenged by British army officers to create a watch that could withstand the rigors of polo matches. Upon his return to Europe, de Trey partnered with Jacques-David LeCoultre and entrusted French industrial designer René-Alfred Chauvot to design the case and its innovative swiveling mechanism – and thus, the Reverso was born. Staying true to its original design and proportions since 1931, the Reverso has continuously evolved while preserving its Art Deco lines and balanced aesthetics.

Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces nine new models to the Reverso collection at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025, each expressing a chapter of the Reverso story: Reverso Minute Repeater, Reverso Tribute Geographic pink gold - steel, Reverso Hybris Artistica Calibre 179, Reverso Tribute Enamel ‘Shahnameh’, Reverso One ‘Precious Flowers’, Reverso One ‘Precious Colors’, Reverso Tribute Nonantieme ‘Enamel’, Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds, and Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds black dial or blue dial. The new collection celebrates the Reverso as a catalyst for technical innovation, artistic expression, and timeless design.

Prepare to be captivated within the Watches and Wonders booth, where the artistry and expertise behind the Reverso unfold. Master artisans will reveal the secrets of restoration, the delicate magic of enameling, and the relentless pursuit of innovation, while Casa Fagliano will present their legacy of handcrafted polo boot straps. And in a delightful twist, Chocolate Craftsman Mathieu Davoine will tantalize the senses with a new gastronomic experience, drawing inspiration from the dynamic world of polo. The 1931 Café promises chocolate creations that surprise and delight. Watches and Wonders invites you to Geneva from April 1-7, 2025, with public days from April 5-7.

The 1931 Polo Club theme is more than a retrospective; it's a vibrant ode to the enduring spirit that birthed the Reverso, celebrating the exhilarating world of polo and the captivating essence of its time. Born from the dynamism of 1931, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso transcended its origins to become a 20th-century design icon. Its sleek Art Deco lines and ingenious reversible case remain instantly recognizable, a testament to timeless artistry. As Jaeger-LeCoultre, the revered Watchmaker of Watchmakers™, looks to the future, its legacy of innovation – over 1,400 calibres and 430 patents – continues to shape the art of horology, blending centuries of savoir-faire with an unyielding quest for what's next.
