Many fondly remember the Roaring Twenties, despite most not even being alive to experience them. A sophisticated period emerged from post-war norms, emphasizing the sentiment of working to live rather than living to work, depicted in the newly emerging creativity being fostered in the world. This is nothing surprising for luxury fashion brand Fendi, founded in 1925. Thus, Kim Jones, artistic director of Fendi, takes Fendi back to its roots as he explains today’s “foundation” of women’s clothing and” how we think are [still] in the 1920s.” Society is still chasing the period of the twenties, or maybe it’s the other way around.

Fendi’s Womenswear Spring/Summer 2025 collection unveils at Milan Fashion Week, and it features special show music that blends Max Richter’s music with the voices of Anna and Silvia Fendi to produce a love letter from the 2020s to the 1920s. This collection features boots that utilize Fendi’s Colour Palette, Cuoio Romano leather, and Selleria hand stitching. However, they strive to create something fresh as they collaborate with Red Wing to utilize the base and structure of their Classic Moc Boot, bringing a surprise collab that fans on both sides may take an interest in.

Moving up, Fendi also reveals its handmade embroidered tees and (silk and organza) slip-ins. Soft suedes and shearlings blanket the wearer, forming robe shapes, while suede croco makes an appearance in t-shirt silhouettes. The enveloping of all sides symbolizes forms of protection, while Fendi emphasizes that lightness and movement are the keys as they push for women who do rather than just are. This draws connections back to fashion from the Roaring Twenties as the period created similar light and airy pieces that allowed movement for women.

They contrast their collection of lightness and movement with the reveal of their newest bag, the Mamma Baguette Taller. It utilizes the past structure of their standard Mamma Baguette Bag but is now taller and wider. This is done to pay tribute to the founder of the house and Silvia Fendi’s grandmother, Adele Fendi. It harmonizes with the other pieces revealed to create a sense of balance in the collection.
