It's not in the water, per se—it’s in the vibes. And so it's no secret that, in recent years, Joshua Tree has ballooned with a sea of hospitality options, second homes, and pandemic relocations. That the unequivocal destination has enjoyed greater allure than ever is no surprise. The uniqueness of the landscape and its intoxicating colors, the accessibility to cosmopolitan Southern California, and the charming lifestyle aesthetic make for a win-win in JT. That's not to mention the thriving mindfulness explorations that one finds bounding about in workshops, classes, and retreats.

With all the hospitality options and ideas on the scene, not everything lands favorably. Joshua Tree is a destination where style over substance is a frequent misstep. Yet anything that Foxden Hospitality (founded by Dale and Brookelyn Fox) touches seems to turn to certifiable desert gold. A recent experience at the new and luxurious Joshua Tree Country Club, wedged into the region’s Coyote Hole, was no exception.

Buttressed by multi-million year-old boulders and their inimitable Joshua Trees, the JTCC espouses both contemporaneity and rustic relaxation. A picturesque (and dare I say heated) saltwater pool, a linen-pump cabana, jacuzzi, fire pit, tourney-sized croquet lawn, the only rentable tennis and pickleball court in town, a secret library, and artfully eclectic modern interiors encourage a total loss of time and its passing. Only a stone’s throw from town, the site’s premium offerings include private chef dinners, massage therapy, tennis pro lessons, personal astronomy guides and sound bath healing sessions. In keeping with local vibes, the property’s customized lighting keeps the crystalline skies unobscured for guests’ and neighbors’ viewing pleasure. In all, recovery or low-key revelry are yours to behold and be besotted by.

As the new year spells promise and possibility, and the normal volume of visitors at the precious national park has significantly diminished, the time is now to enjoy the toasty amenities, to lose yourself in the blood letting sunsets and powerful winds, to kick back country club style. Book a reservation here.
