LA-based fashion collective Supervsn Studios, founded in 2019 by Creative Director and designer Gavin Mathieu, launched its first-ever flagship store on Slauson Avenue in View Park. In a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 3 attended by local legend Carol Jo Shaw, BLXST, Hebru Brantley, Nas, Aleali May, Mustard and the View Park community with approval from Mayor Karen Bass’ office, the brand unveiled their 1,200-square-foot store.
The interior design, curated by Mathieu and Dream Awake Design owner Estelle Bailey-Babenzien, blends Mathieu’s favorite styles — a mix of Brutalist, Bali, mid-century modern, and South Central. At front of shop, Supervsn will display collection items, in-store exclusives, STUDIO powered by Supervsn, and other alternative brand drops in other categories like B Magazine coffee books and novelty items from Kinto. In the back half is “The Gallery,” a space designed for brand collaborations, local art installations, and community programming.
Established following Mathieu’s success with the brand 4Hunnid in collaboration with Compton rapper YG, Supervsn looks to create thought-provoking products and content that inspire creativity. The store resides on the connective-node in Slauson Corridor, a choice influenced by Mathieu’s youth growing up nearby the neighborhood. With the flagship, the brand hopes to empower creatives in the surrounding community and have a more tangible, impactful connection with View Park.
