After releasing two EPS in 2015, _Heterocetera_ and _Agitations_, Lotic is ready to drop their debut album _Power._ The album will be their most personal work to date as it explores the many ways in which power can be expressed and experienced. The Berlin-based musician’s intense sound is still very vibrant and clear in their music, however, now Lotic mines the depths of nuance which we have yet to see. Across its 11 songs, Lotic stretches their wings into unexpected new spaces, both compositionally, and, for the first time, vocally.
Lotic was born in Houston and moved to Berlin in 2012 after studying electronic music composition and saxophone in college. Berlin is where they were able to form the Janus club collective and in 2015, they were commissioned to work on two remixes for Björk’s _Vulnicura_, and subsequently were invited to be the opening act at her live show in Berlin.
_Power_ is grounded by Lotic’s love of Texan marching bands — “Beats and drumming are so integral to black culture,” they explain — and was in part inspired by Ta-Nehisi Coates’s _Between The World And Me_.
