Obscene City: The Good Times Issue

The Elephant was decidedly uncaged as the band got atop the chic furniture at a famously secretive West Hollywood venue. Big Sean and Jhené Aiko were our hosts for the evening, and Tequila Avión, Tiger Beer, and Blue Ice Vodka provided our favorite segment of the food groups (the liquid part), with delicious beverages. The Bosco allowed us to capture ourselves at our nest in the booth, and DJ Johnny Basil donned a speedo to remind us of the other elephant in the room. The next evening we headed to the first Friday of Coachella, where we joined The Colony Life by the pool in Bermuda Dunes, and together filled the adjacent aircraft hanger with killer tunes courtesy of Pr0 les, DJ Whitney Fierce, and Mikey Lion. Bumble had our iPhones buzzing and our hearts a flutter, and House Beer, Suja Juice, and Bulletproof coffee provided something yummy to sip on (or in Bulletproof’s case an oxygen bar) while we unwound in the spa with a cast of new friends, and watched Sol rise above the desert. The week before on an uncharacteristically drizzled Hollywood evening, we hopped a Black Cab and took shelter at Mama Shelter with our British friends Ben Sherman (who had bought the weather from across the pond). FoxTales installed some booth magic—both in the Shelter and in the Cab—and we added some Northern Soul for some hip-swerving hijinks. We put the pop in pop-up when we joined McQ in catapulting open their new Los Angeles pop-up store for their Swallow capsule collection. LAFAWNDAH dropped the tunes and Snow Leopard, 3 Floyds, The Macallan, and Highland Park provided a dazzling array of delicious beverages for all to feast on. Deftly avoiding a cavernous hangover thanks to the quality of the nums, next we headed to Sprüth Magers gallery in Los Angeles for the opening of George Condo’s Entrance to the Void. A few days later we headed to Please Do Not Enter Gallery where we examined the extraordinary new Hennessy 8 bottle crafted by Arik Levy— a $39,000 extravagance celebrating 250 years of the iconic cognac brand. Then at The London Hotel in West Hollywood, we got to sample the rarefied drop. Always on time for the party, we joined Omega and Eddie Redmayne at Mack Sennett Studios for the celebration of their new Globemaster watch. A few sunny afternoons later, we strolled up to the Roosevelt hotel to join our friend Alexa Chung at a tea party celebrating her new style app Villoid. Always a end for a Pimm’s cup, we downed a few then dragged ourselves back to the office in time for an intern to run us over to Beverly Hills—with our favorite optically endowed bag in hand—to celebrate the opening of the new Fendi West Coast flagship store. Next we headed to Palihouse for a Kit and Ace supper club in celebration of their travel collection The Carry-on. On a blustery evening we headed to MOCA to join Paul Marciano for the Guess Denim Day event supporting Peace Over Violence, and in support of raising awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault. We were genuinely moved by some of the brave speeches that were made by survivors of sexual assault. We too choose peace over violence.
