As we all continue to pray live concerts will soon return, music-lovers around the world more than ever are appreciating music that makes them feel good and dance. Insert Sam Blacky, who’s here to bless fans with her newest banger titled “Body.” Following last month’s critically-acclaimed single “Too Late,” the Los Angeles DJ and producer stays in her tech-house lane creating uptempo anthems that will immediately transport you to the dance floor.
Creating her own fusion of house, techno, and tribal music that’s since bled from the underground into the mainstream, Sam Blacky boasts an international following, performing and shutting down stages all over the globe. Plus, her modeling portfolio speaks volumes in itself, working with brands such as Nike, L'Oréal, Galore, Marie Claire, Superdry, Guess, Sports Illustrated, Malibu, and Playboy.
“Body” was 100% inspired by Sam’s love of travel and tropical, foreign destinations. “Obviously before COVID, what seems like so long ago, I’d be in a different country almost every weekend and get exposed to all sorts of new styles of music,” she states. “I took it all in like a sponge. I was obsessed with every new song I heard and I couldn’t believe how different all the sounds were. I collected bits and pieces from all over the world to culminate my own sound and take different aspects from every place I’d been and combine them all together.”
The song went through tons of rounds of changes and edits because every time Sam would come home from another trip, she’d have something more to add. She adds, “I hope it comes across in the work, because it truly was inspired by the world."
