Somewhere between the abstract embodiment of a figurative piece of art lay the artist and their perception of the times. This in part is particularly true when the abstract subjects consist of there own interpretation, in and around that very subject.

On November 22nd, 2019 [UTA Artist Space](http://utaartistspace.com) and Mariane Ibraham will be hosting the opening for six young emerging black artists. Jarvis Boyland, Jonathan Lyndon Chase, Jerrell Gibbs, Marcus Jahmal, Clotilde Jiménez, and Vaughn Spann. The six artists explore the narratives centered around race and Identity, all to give the viewer a perception that will have them thinking twice.

The figurative works showcase a sense of serenity and the youthful depiction that celebrates the simple act of existing. The opening show rightly titled, “ Disembodiment” aims to shed the stereotypes and definition of “black art” and also exhibit a dialogue on black boyhood and self-image.
