Understanding the necessity of every stage of connection and that it is possible for every stage of your journey in love, sex and connection to be nurturing.” The video, directed by [Ford Fairchild](http://fordfairchild.com), is a visual treat of a city doused in a purple and pink glow. Yola and her romantic interest exchange flirtatious glances as she belts out her ballad, striving to offer positive reinforcements to love within Black communities. “Starlight” marks the excitement for Yola’s upcoming album, _Stand For Myself_, that will premiere on July 30 via [Easy Eye Sound](https://store.easyeyesound.com). The album, produced by Dan Auerbach, was a gift given by time during the pandemic and will feature some of Yola’s musical inspirations deemed eclectic. The deeply personal 12-track album will provide subtle social commentary and overall, questions tokenism and bigotry that have plagued her life both personally and professionally. Apace with _Stand for Myself_, the rest of Yola’s 2021 will be filled with festival appearances as well as shows alongside country singer [Chris Stapleton.](https://www.chrisstapleton.com)
