There’s an alien language spoken on the Balenciaga planet: A distinguishable design language that communicates the consistent excellence of each collection. The Fall/Winter 2025 collection is intended to redefine standards of fashion to challenge conventional dress codes. In typical Balenciaga fashion, the collection is a true demonstration of the strong design identity carried from concept to execution. Focused on artful craftsmanship, the brand continues to transcend trends and please its cult-like following.
This collection had a casual feeling at its core, with Balenciaga staples written all over. Hoods on trench coats and floor-length hoodies fuse the brand's exploration of comfort and craft while corseted leather jackets provide the dark sensuality associated with the brand. The inclusion of oversized sunglasses, chunky boots, and distressed muscle tanks also capitalize on distinctly Balenciaga indicators. Demna, in particular, has created a futuristic and almost apocalyptic take on the brand. During his time at Balenciaga, he expanded Balenciaga’s range but stayed very consistent with its already existing collections. Balenciaga loyalists rely on the brand to give them something that they can expect, something they know they will love, and Demna knows how to deliver.
Texture is also very important to the Balenciaga design identity. This collection features spandex, nylon, cashmere, leather, denim, and shearling, giving the collection plenty of texture without overpowering the silhouette and detail within the designs. Collaborating with PUMA for this collection, sportswear looks bring a sense of elegance and innovation to the more casual aspects of the collection. Demna also made sure to send ultra mini silhouettes down the runway, rounding out the collection and connecting to each part of its audience. The collection also expands the collaboration between Balenciaga and Alpinestars, which began in 2024, with studded and pierced morph gloves. In attendance to the show were beloved it-girls Gabbriette, Rachel Sennot, and Devon Lee Carlson, as well as fashion favorites Tyra Banks and Lukas Sabbat.
