For his fashion brand’s latest collection, Danish designer Christian Juul Nielsen looked abroad for inspiration. Adopting the nostalgia and whimsy of the Midsummer celebration in Nordic countries, Nielsen tells a story through AKNVAS’s Spring-Summer 2025 Collection, aptly titled Nordic Midsummer Camp.
Showcased on the 37th floor of 10 Hudson Yards earlier this week, Nordic Midsummer Camp unfolds over three distinct chapters entitled “Urban Scout,” “Monochromatic Flower Fields” and “Radiant Dew.” Key looks capture the allure of youthful exploration and natural beauty, featuring canvas workwear-inspired jackets, delicate floral appliques on tops and shimmering, sequined embroidered dresses. Nielsen's couture background, honed at fashion houses like Dior and Oscar de la Renta, is evident in the collection's meticulous craftsmanship.
"I wanted to create a bag that fits the ready-to-wear AKNVAS girl. Feminine and functional that goes from day to evening," says Nielsen, introducing the brand's first handbag line. These miniature bags will be available in a range of pastel and neutral shades, complementing the spring palette.
Mirroring this balance between aesthetics and pragmatism, AKNVAS partnered with luxury footwear brand Stuart Weitzman to select shoes for the runway. Men's footwear was provided by Kenner, a leading Brazilian premium shoe brand, adding an international flair to the show.
The star-studded event attracted a diverse group of celebrities including actress Kat Graham, influencer James Charles, fashion designer Whitney Port, as well as Jenna Lyons, Meredith Marks, and Lisa Barlow, underscoring the brand's growing influence in the fashion world.
Since its founding in 2019, AKNVAS has quickly become a favorite among A-list celebrities, with Issa Rae, Usher, Nick Jonas, and Jennifer Lopez among its notable clients. AKNVAS was also named the 2020 Fashion Group International best new womenswear designer and 2021 best new menswear designer.
