For their latest collection, Chloé presents the opposite of ephemerality: immutability. The brand describes this project as one that showcases an “eternal state of mind.” It functions as a demonstration of the human instinct, revealing how empowering it can be to follow your intuition through your body’s desire for movement and aestheticism. The Freedom Collection, which is revealed at Paris Fashion Week on September 26th, is the epitome of fashion liberation. Naturally, it draws much inspiration from the prime time of style sovereignty. That is, the nouveau-boho movement of the 70’s.
Chloé’s summer is a breath of fresh air with elements of profound longing. The collection is grounded in the idea of summer being a full-body return to one’s self. It is a season that strikes an innate urge to reconnect with your roots, live authentically, and romanticize the world around you. The fashion house has done just that. With the Summer 2025 rollout, they’ve paid homage to their earlier years, even bringing back their iconic 70s bloomers. The style is sun-washed and delicately lived-in, resulting in softly muted colors like apricot, baby yellow, off-white cream, blush, sand, pastel green, dusk blue and faded purple. Pops of vibrancy come from the occasional display of fuschia, mint, or burnt mahogany red. Primary textiles used to compliment this color scheme include Habotai silk, charmeuse silk, lace, and ribbed cotton jersey.
Select pieces bloom with floral patterns of peonies and roses, mixing dusty hues of cool and warm tones like blush with an airy jean blue tone. These prints are brilliantly reframed onto bulbous shapes from an original hand-painted 1977 artwork, furthering the commitment to botanical themes. The designs are elegant, dreamy, and affectionate. So, it’s no surprise that intimacy also courses through the veins of this project. Chloé describes this collection as one that has an intentionally placed feeling of lingerie drifting through it. The lace and sheer materials beautifully sustain this attempt at sensuality.
With this release, the brand introduces a new jacket, one meticulously structured toward storytelling. The silhouette includes high buttoned necklines, pleated sleeves, and puffy shoulders, often appearing through suede and cotton. This collision is tied together by the strung ballet slippers crafted from nude suede. These slippers act as a throughline for the collection, appearing in mustard, white, and blush. They create a sense of uniformity in the eclectic world of bohemian fashion. Other footwear include patent-finished flip flops in brown, sky blue, and bubblegum pink as well as the Maxime platform in a heeled open-toe clog design with dark wood bottoms and pink jelly tops.
The lookbook is further decorated through Chloé’s abundant use of accessories. Boho is never boho without its many ornaments. Models can be seen wearing large-framed sunglasses, chunky gold rings and pendant necklaces, long dangly earrings, stacks of bangles, slouchy leather bags in brown and black, etc. Much of the jewelry is even designed to look like found treasure, with shells, sea stones, and other summer finds as charms.
