Budding fashion designer Contessa Mills celebrated the launch of her debut Fall/Winter 2024 Collection, “The World:01”. Inspired by the symbolism of the world tarot card – which represents accomplishment and the completion of a creative journey – Mills’ debut collection is a testament to the designer’s years of dedication and hard work.
Raised in Chicago until the age of 14, Mills spent the later half of her life on the East Coast, admiring the tenacity and chicness of the women of New York City until she herself moved there upon finishing up college in Philadelphia. In her own words, Mills says, “What captivated me most about NYC was the women—confident, ambitious, and stylish—who take pride in their appearance and see fashion as a source of empowerment. I’ve always been inspired by those who enjoy getting dressed up, whether for a night out or a simple trip to the grocery store, because for them, fashion is an expression of their confidence and joy. I created Contessa Mills to make clothes for women who, like me, find clothing empowering and love the freedom to express themselves through their wardrobe.”
Sleek and structured with fine fabrics like weighted crepes, stretch twill, and taffeta, Mills’ collection is versatile and elegant, a fine fit for the New York Woman she took so much inspiration from. Her designs are inspired by both masculine and feminine elements, and aim to bring confidence and celebrate individuality for the modern woman.
The collection launch was preceded by an exclusive presentation and gathering at the Hotel Chelsea in New York, New York. Featuring music from Isabella Massenet and tarot card and astrology readings by Rebecca Gordon astrology, attendees were invited to admire Contessa Mills’ collection first hand, modeled by it-girls and socialites styled in pieces from the collection by Brian Meller.
