Tara Subkoff, founder of Imitation of Christ, created the brand as a means of practicing environmental activism through art and fashion creation, urging the world to upcycle and reimagine the clothes they have in their closet rather than buying fast fashion, discouraging the participation of the endless cycle of what’s new. This week Imitation of Christ came to Los Angeles Fashion Week with their Spring Summer 2024 Collection at The Hole Gallery in Hollywood, with a live performance that began with a blessing from the world's major religions.
The collection debuted on dancers in motion in a performance choreographed by Tara Subkoff and Lauren Cannon, and included an interactive dance and art segment in which designers and artists created the collection in real-time, which was available to purchase during the show. The collection is a celebration of empathy and acceptance, an urge for global humanitarianism, using fashion, art, and movement as a tool to wield our collective values into higher levels of consciousness, encouraging the audience to create anew with that they already have.
