Louis Vuitton’s Damier has long adorned timeless pieces like bags, trunks, and luggage. Today, the Maison announced the launch of a fine jewelry line that reimagines the iconic pattern. Rather than differentiating by color, this checkerboard is formed by alternating squares of diamond with open planes of gold, adding a luxurious flair to the recognizable print. Le Damier de Louis Vuitton is an entirely unisex modern redesign, debuting 12 pieces in total that seek to transcend the confines of both gender and time.

‍Francesca Amfitheatrof, Artistic Director for Watches and Jewelry calls Le Damier de Louis Vuitton, “the creation of a new era, a modern collection designed to last forever.” The pieces are designed to be worn like a second skin, relaying authenticity and agelessness from the inside out. The collection not only maintains the luxury brand’s Damier motif, but pioneers soon-to-be recognizable features like the geometric center line that splits the curve on each of the fine jewelry pieces.

According to Louis Vuitton, the ring is the cornerstone of this collection. The standard ring is available in three sizes and both white and yellow gold, allowing customization for everyday use. The double ring has four rows of gold and diamond, making it an emblematic centerpiece for the house’s latest venture. 

Seeking to reinvent, the tennis bracelet is designed to withstand the match between Louis Vuitton’s attempt to both modernize the classics and preserve their charm. “I thought about the classic tennis bracelet – always in motion and always on your wrist,” notes Amfitheatrof on the intentions behind this design. The large tennis bracelet is available in both white and yellow gold, while the thinner version comes in only a sleek gold and acts as a subdued jewelry staple. 

Similarly aimed are the hoop earrings and pendant necklace, which are available in the same stunning yellow gold and radiate the continuity this collection strives toward.
