LOEWE‘s Spring Summer 2025 collection is stripping the elements of fashion down to their roots. This collection is self-assured, with silhouettes and patterns that command the attention of even the emptiest white room. The backdrop is staged as a blank canvas, reinforcing the designs’ ability to speak for themselves. The Maison describes their latest project as one that is defined by its “radical reduction.” Attire is designed to maintain structure, even through the movement, curves, and flow of everyday life. The lookbook is a mosaic of dresses and more casual wear, namely, the classic tee shirt and trousers combination that sees the likes of daily routine. The brand describes this intentional intertwinement as an obstruction to the strict grandeur of the runway.
The design purposefully draws attention to firm lines including those that are wired or curved, adding visual bones to the body of the ensemble. Crinolines are meticulously crafted, calling upon the fabrics’ prints to splay on elevated surfaces in order to create prominence. Patterns include that of painted florals, downturned bird feathers with images of legendary artists like Édouard Manet or famous paintings like those of Van Gogh, feathers that create a camoflauged effect, glittering sequins over knit long-sleeves, and rattlesnake designs on nappa leathers.
These striking designs are tastefully brought forth through the sophistication of the footwear they are paired with. The runway saw an abundance of oxfords, boat shoes, and high-top Ballet Runners. Colorfully laced sneakers and emerald green leather loafers also make an appearance. Further refining these looks is the Madrid. Sentimentally named after LOEWE’s home city, this trapezoid bag is introduced as an SS25 staple that graces even the most eccentric outfits with the maturity LOEWE is known for. To close the show, the brand displayed a light grey feathered long-sleeved tee-shirt with Johann Sebastian Bach pictured in dusty blue monochrome. The design is meant to be reminiscent of vintage rock n’ roll memorabilia. Playing into this story, the brand hung Bach’s sheet music outside the venue, creating a brilliantly immersive experience.
