On Thursday, Marni and Alake Shilling celebrated the launch of their collaboration at the Marni Boutique in Los Angeles surrounded by a collection of art, fashion, music, and plenty of good company. The High-Summer Collection embraces the connection between humans and the natural world, with an added emphasis on the joy that summer exudes. In the words of a long-standing member of the Marni family Paloma Elsesser, the collection brings “a delightful blend of sweat, sweetness, and surrender.”
Alake Shilling’s vision for the collection was evident through the use of lively floral depictions, of course, infused with Marni’s signature bright colors and playfulness. Keeping in line with the house’s commitment to sustainability, the collection uses recycled fabrics and eco-friendly materials. The crochet items are made with natural, low-impact fibers further demonstrating Marni’s dedication to sustainable fashion and reducing our ecological footprint.
The list of attendees included the likes of artist Alake Shilling, musicians Benny Blanco, Jeremy Zucker, Drumaq, actress Cara Santana, and artists Brittany Byrd and Kohshin Finley. Additional guests and friends of the house included creatives Sami Miro, Courtney Mawhorr, Baron Schovengel, Zoi Lerma, Courtney Trop, Ella Snyder, and more.
