For Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2025 runway show, the Italian fashion brand transported its couture to a dystopian-esque newspaper factory — a world where vanity and deceit converge. Prada and Miu Miu founder, Miuccia Prada, embodies the brand’s cultural dialogues with groundbreaking women artists and filmmakers, both through Miu Miu’s latest collection and the design of the fashion show itself. While the looks themselves are studies in the reinvention of utilitarian staples, the backdrop of the Paris show is less straightforward. Attendees are seated next to printing presses, copies of the fictional newspaper “The Truthless Times” spread throughout the venue. Both the newspaper's content and the accompanying narrative short film explore the idea of truth and manipulation.

While Miu Miu’s Fall/Winter collection introduced clothing grounded within a spectrum of lived experience, the fashions of Spring/Summer embody youth as a period of self-certainty and truth. In an era where digital spaces are saturated with content and misinformation runs rampant, Miu Miu chooses simplicity, celebrating straightforward clothing as an honest representation of character. 

Many looks are formed from prototypical items throughout fashion history. White cotton dresses are shaped and folded around the body, their essence the same while their form is irreparably changed. Sweaters are contorted into tops, fashion staples manipulated to make something new. Elements shift at the seams. Fabric that appears to be nylon turns out to be silk when touched. This collection plays with perception, leaving you questioning where reality ends and illusion begins. 

To model the faceted fashions, Miu Miu invited a cast of actresses, artists and models. Charlotte Cardin, Alexa Chung, Willem Dafoe, Cara Delevingne, Noen Eubanks, Amelia Gray, Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban, Lena Mantler, MINNIE, Little Simz, Eliot Sumner and Hilary Swank all walked in the Paris show. 

For a brand that decorates the wardrobes of successful 20-somethings, Miu Miu continues to prove its timelessness.
