Renowned designer, DJ, and street style icon Hiroshi Fujiwara debuts his latest menswear collection for Moncler Genius, merging his passion for subcultures with innovative style. This line reinterprets essential wardrobe staples, showcasing the blend of functionality and technical prowess that transforms the everyday into something extraordinary.
Central to Fujiwara’s vision are striking graphics that define the collection. Drawing from deep cultural references, each piece features embossed logos and numerical codes that create a distinctive design language. Playful elements from the viral Korean illustration studio, Nayeon & Rang, introduce whimsical cartoon kittens and bunnies, while embroidered philosophical quotes—like Nietzsche’s “Without music, life would be a mistake” and Aristotle’s “There is no great genius without some touch of madness”—add layers of depth.
The collection highlights cotton and nylon, presenting a range of versatile workwear and collegiate styles, including chinos, sweatshirts, polos, hoodies, and tees. Accessory options like graphic baseball caps, beanies, and socks add to this hardworking wardrobe, each incorporating the unique genius FRGMT twist.
Sleek black nylon forms the foundation of the collection, offered in both matte and shiny finishes with contrasting embroidery. The line features varied silhouettes, including sporty nylon parkas, Americana-inspired varsity jackets, tailored car coats, and workwear jackets that reflect a distinct British style. The classic Moncler aesthetic is reimagined with lighter outerwear, showcasing a new grid-quilted boudin design, along with updated Maya2 and Everest2 jackets that are now ‘50% lighter’ for spring.
The campaign, titled “Where Nothing Means Everything,” was captured at The City of Genius show in Shanghai last October, showcasing Richard Wilson RA's captivating art installation, “Looking Glass, 2024.” Commissioned by Moncler and Fujiwara, the installation mirrors the collection's sleek black nylon while embodying Fujiwara’s creative vision. Together, they challenge the boundaries of fashion, inviting an exploration of art, culture, and identity within this unique menswear line. In a constantly evolving world of subcultures, Fujiwara’s work exemplifies the enduring power of vision, elevating modern menswear to new heights.
