In response to the storied history of the United States—imagined and real—the first [S.R. Studio](https://srstudio.com) haute couture collection explores the intersection of fashion, art, craft and culture. The silhouettes and shapes endlessly reference American heritage in the adornment of Puritan collars, and stylistic themes of colonialism, neocolonialism, and religious persecution.
Some notable features of the collection include wide skate pants and oversized colonial bonnets that hide faces from view. Volumes are enlarged to the extreme in ethereal dresses crafted from chiffon. Hand-dyeing, patchwork, and enzyme rinses illuminate garment surfaces.
Bags called “instrument cases” of varied sizes invite an open evaluation of their contents. Shoes draw origin from the Pilgrim pump, buckled with a California punk safety-pin.
The S.R. STUDIO. CA. LA. Couture collection will be retailed via trunk show through a selection of wholesale partners, from early February.
