An evening out in New York City proves to be an experiment in meditation. To venture outside the home is to absorb the city’s arrhythmic ongoings and to, despite it all, maintain a semblance of order. A proper New York night imposes paradoxical conditions: how wide are you willing to stretch your appetite for the new? How intimate have you become with your own desires for comfort, for ease of use? Few places in the city whet the palettes of adventure seekers and sensualists alike so much as The Club Room at The SoHo Grand Hotel, a nostalgia-inducing two-room venue equipped with all of the amenities requisite of a glorious (and glamorous) night out—whether that be during the encroaching Fashion Week, on a muggy summer’s night, or amidst a brittle December chill.

At The Club Room, one is met with a multitude of factors that fulfill any number of night-out requirements. Should one seek classic New York ambience, they will find it in The Bar Room, which is adorned with Terry O’Neill’s portraits and designed minding Art Deco-era opulence and 1970s New York chic. Should one (rightly) arrive in pursuit of a damn-good martini, they’ll find it: The Club Room Martini is presented in a bottle encased in ice and shaken tableside. A disciple of dance will settle happily underneath the disco ball in the adjacent Parlor Room’s 18-foot mirrored ceilings to enjoy live jazz shows, unique DJ sets, or nu-wave pianists; an epicure will delight in the supper club-inspired dinner menu prepared by Chef Ken Addington, expertly curated to complement small batch heritage and craft cocktails by Mixologist Jeremy Oertel.

Nestled discretely on Manhattan’s West Broadway Street, the SoHo Grand Hotel established itself as downtown Manhattan’s first luxury boutique hotel in the late 1990s. Since, the SoHo Grand has cemented itself as one of the most unique, artistically engaging destinations in the city—not a reprieve from the industriousness of the city itself, but a distillation of all that makes New York so interesting. The Club Room, in all of its precise endeavors towards luxury and plentitude, only reinforces the SoHo Grand’s remarkable repute.

What does one seek when they seek a night out in New York City? Certainly, a way by which they can absorb the city itself. Where more splendorous than The Club Room? Share a steak tartare gougère with a tantalizing stranger. Sip a flaming craft cocktail. Watch that disco ball reflect across the faces of likeminded adventurers, and allow yourself to become part of that New York evening, if only for a couple of hours.
