Who is [Player Dave](https://www.instagram.com/playerdave/)? San Diego-based producer Charlie Sahm AKA Player Dave grew up a bit of a misfit. While other kids jumped fences and scraped their knees, Charlie was learning violin, cello, drums, and other instruments. His formative years were forged by the golden era of SoundCloud, listening to artists like Mr. Carmack and Monte Booker. Well-versed in cutting edge production, Charlie quickly evolved into Player Dave.
You may have seen Player Dave spin at festivals like Lightning in a Bottle, bringing those explosive, bass-heavy records that will get you moving on the dancefloor in no time. But that doesn’t mean Player Dave was exempt from the trials and tribulations that come with being a creator. Player Dave underwent a massive rehabilitation of mind, body, and soul to create his magnum opus. Today, he returns to unveil his debut album titled [_Where The Wind Blew Me_](https://playerdave.lnk.to/WheretheWindBlewMe), premiered exclusively on _Flaunt_. The project is the story of a metamorphosis of sound and soul, unveiling his new sound that fuses indie, soul, electronica, hip-hop, and his old roots.
Speaking on the inspo behind the album, Charlie states, “The first song I wrote on the album influenced the creation of all the other tracks. Right when I wrote the first song and named it, I had a lot more feelings attached to the literal phrase so I needed to expand on that with another 10 songs. I like to think of most of these songs as backing tracks to self-discovery, I hope to provoke introspective/existential pondering within the listener.”
Despite all the emotions and feelings attached to the album title, Player Dave seeks to showcase his diversity as a producer and songwriter. Listeners will be able to hear the whole thing front to back, getting a taste of all the styles and moods he enjoys curating as an artist.
