The EP is resonant and utterly entertaining_,_ showcasing Brun’s ability to defy the borders of music. It features collaborators across the Afro-Caribbean diaspora including Kah Lo, Shirazee, Naika and Shay Lia. His past collaborative work with J. Balvin on album _Colores_ is a prime example of his ability to adapt to new surroundings and artists, winning him a Grammy. He previously worked with Kah Lo, Shirazee and Naika on three singles, now welcoming them aboard on _Melanin._ Title track “Melanin” is Kah Lo and Brun’s second single together and is the perfect summer jam. Shirazee’s vocals appear on “Love Me Suffa,” inspired by blues and Haiti dance music. It also includes track “Baby Who,” created with Shay Lia, that utilizes Haitian instruments to create an au courant groove. Brun continues to be a champion for Haiti, speaking out against the offensive rhetoric used, leading the charge for Netflix to take down a documentary that inaccurately alleges that AIDs came out of Haiti, and elaborating on why Grammys World Music division was not up to par. Advocate Michael Brun’s new EP _Melanin_ continues to support Haiti’s culture through the art of music.
